I want to learn Mandarin because my girlfriend is Chinese and we plan to go back to China and her parents only speak Mandarin(her mom speaks a little English). I would like to dedicate as much time as needed to my studies because we plan to go back in October 2009. My future wife, actually French, however I have had to learn English by immersion for work reason, and I did so in tree months. It might take me longer but I am willing to take the time to learn.
I know at this point absolutely nothing of the language. I am a beginner. I need to learn mostly conversationa l skill for now, however I would like to learn reading and writing to control fully the Chinese language. I can always learn the Mandarin at a later date to complete everything.
