I want to learn hindi/punjabi so I can better communicate with my grandma. I am a beginner, and I am looking to improve my conversation skills. I am interested in learning Korean for a few reasons. First of all, I am new to the city of Vancouver, I come from Saskatoon where there is not a lot of other cultures to interact with. When I moved here, I decided it was time to try to learn another language to expand my horizons. I took beginner spanish and I can now speak a small amount of spanish. However, I decided that Korean would be a more useful language to learn living in Vancouver. I also would like to have a career in human rights and international relations law. Therefore the more languages that I know the better off that I will be. Lastly, my boyfriend is korean. I am very interested in his culture and I am very enthusiastic about learning more about it. His family primarily speaks korean and therefore it would create a way to better communicate with them.
I have not had a lot of exposure to the language, aside from the fact that my boyfriend speaks korean on a daily basis. He has taught me a very small amount, but I figured I needed professional help to fully understand the language.
I am most concerned with basic conversation. I want to be able to understand and speak basic korean with the people around me. I would like to be able to write it, and to understand the grammar, but I feel that conversation is most important for me.
I will dedicate as much time as needed to learning korean. However I am a student during the fall and spring semesters, and I work full time during the summer, but I feel that I still have enough free time to fully immerse myself in this.
I am looking for a teacher that is understanding , I know learning a new language can be frustrating, and even more frustrating for someone who is teaching it. I also want someone who will push me as much as needed, but realize that I do have other priorities in my life as well.

I am learning for two resons ,one i wanted to learn for many years as a self achievement and will by accident advance career a little.
I am a beginner working on self study with 'new practical chinese' books.
I would need help in all areas i think , i would like to read,write,sp eak fluently.

I am going into the field of the music business and want to enter the Chinese market. My mom is chinese and my father is scottish. I think being able to speak fluent Manderin from a business and heritage perspective is something very important to have. I also would love to be able to speak to my grandmother.
Unfortuna tely I have no experience in Manderin and only understood a little when I was younger.
I would like to dedicate this summer until University begins.
I would like a teacher that is very hands on and is able to use english and basic scenerios to help better my understanding .
