I am a beginner who is struggling to learn Mandarin. I tried in first year UVic but was not disciplined enough to attain the understanding of mandarin requisite of advancing to the next level. I would like to work with someone 1 on 1 because I found it difficult to pay attention in the classes that were 2 hours long, it failed to stimulate me. I have particular difficulty in understanding the order of words as well as a lack of a good ear. I hope to be able to listen and read mandarin media.I am hoping to learn the mandarin language so that I can one day live in Eastern Asia and work there.

I am looking to learn cantonese so that I can speak it with my husbands family as well as teach my daughter to speak it also.
I do not know any cantonese and need help with pronounciatio n and I would need to learn everything from basics on. I would also like to practice speaking cantonese on a regular basis.
