Proficiency: I am a beginner at learning Chinese (Mandarin). I only know a few words and phrases.
R eason for learning Mandarin: My reason's are threefold: i) to better communicate with my fiancee's family, who reside in Changsha, China; ii) to open up avenues of career possibilities in China; and iii) to improve my personal array of lingustics.
Areas for improvement: speaking (i.e., properly pronouncing the 4 tones); writing an reading; and listening comprehension (i.e., properly differentatin g the 4 tones).
Ti me dedication: I would be willing to dedicate approximately 2 hours per day to learning Mandarin.
Qualities in lessons/teach ers: Lessons that are thorough, and provide me with material I can easily practice with and use in the real world. Teahers that are patient, qualified, and understand both English and Mandarin very well.

I am a beginner wishing to advance my knowledge of mandarin with focus on speaking skills.
My current knowledge is limited to very basic words learned from various friends and colleagues. I require a course starting almost from scratch, and hope to prepare myself for the possibility of moving to China for several months within the next year.
I am looking for affordable lessons from a tutor that will be prepared and able to adapt to my learning rate/style. I am OK with small groups for this, or one-on-one.

I am a beginning level speaker in both Mandarin and Spanish. I have taken a couple very elementary courses in both languages; however, I have found it very difficult to maintain my knowledge of these languages while living in an English-speak ing environment.
I will continue to learn both languages in school, however for now I would like to work on conversationa l enhancement. I would like to spend two or three times a week with an instructor. My instructor should be nice, patient, organized, and hopefully fluent in the language with past experience teaching that particular language.
