I want to learn a language because I'm married to a native speaker.
I am probably at the intermediate level now because I haven't tried to speak spanish consistently enough in the past 7 years. My wife speaks spanish fluently (she's dominican) and her family does as well so I'd like to participate more in family conversations . I understand almost everything but have no confidence and sometimes have to pause to think how to say something. My wife has no patience, otherwise I could learn from her but since we always speak english to each other, it's too weird.
I used to be very good in grammar. I still know the rules, just not the official names for the tenses. Conversation is what I need practice in.
I've taken spanish classes at community colleges and they haven't helped me that much because it's not enough 1 on 1 conversation. I'm ready to dedicate at least a couple hours a week. I would like to be able to say whatever I want to say (& understand) by the end of this year.
Most ly, I need a teacher who is flexible. I don't want someone with strict lessons and teaching me from a book, I've done that already. I can say most things I just need someone to help me clean it up & find better ways for me to say things. Also, I want to be able to ask lots of questions on how I should say certain things. I don't necessarily care about being able to write perfectly and know where accents go & stuff. I just want to be able to speak to my wife's family in spanish with confidence as many of them cannot speak english at all.

UNFORTUNEATEL Y MY TEACHER NEVER REALLY TAUGHT US ANYTHING EXCEPT ' HERE'S THE BOOK, READ CHAPTER 3 AND DO THE SUMMARY QUESTIONS. THEN YOU HAVE A QUIZ TOMORROW'. I studied Spanish in College and studied abroad in Mardrid, Spain for 3 months during that time. I would describe my proficiency as intermediate to advanced, however I not had an opportunity to speak Spanish in nearly 2 years. Mostly I need to brush up in all areas. The areas where I need the most guidence would be grammar as well as conversaion.
The reason for my inqury is that my company is doing a demo in Argentia late in Jan. and since not many in my department speak Spanish, I have been selected to go. I need an intensive crash course beginning immediately. I am looking for a teacher who can really customize the lessons for my immediate needs, as well as someone who may know the culture and dialect of the area.

I am beyond the beginner level and barely at an intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish and am personally motivated. I love Spanish cultures and the Spanish language and therefore am learning Spanish in order to use it in my work as a pastor (close to Catholicism). I particularly wish to improve my conversationa l skills. At this time, I could have 1 or 2 lessons per week, according to what seems most fruitful, and I aim to study several hours for each lesson.
I am looking for a motivating tutor, a native speaker, who focuses on lots of conversation and teaches only in Spanish.
An instructor who knows the terminology of my profession would be an added (optional) asset.
