I am married to a Norwegian and have lived in Norway for several years.
I am able to understand quite a lot of Norwegian used in everyday conversations and I can read even more.
My spoken Norwegian is limited to small sentences that are generally used in shops, restaurants and bars. I find it almost impossible right now to participate in any form of unstructured conversation since I do not have the vocabulary and understanding of how to put sentences together.
I have taken a couple of Norwegian courses over the past few years using the books “Ny i Norge”, “På vei” and “Troll i ord”
I am looking to receive 2 hours of tuition a week and spend a further 4 hours per week studying myself.

As a high-beginner in written Norwegian (Bokmål), and a medium-beginn er in conversationa l Norwegian, I am looking for a tutor/instruc tor who will help me develop a broader vocabulary, the correct usage of intonation and grammar, as well as the ability to carry on a conversation with my Norwegian friends and others in everyday situations. I previously lived in the Stavanger area, and therefore have some experience with the different dialects in that vicinity, and would prefer a tutor/instruc tor from that region (if possible). At the moment, I am working on my thesis paper and a practicum, so I would only be able to dedicate 3-5 hrs/week to my language lessons at this time. However, my goal is to be able to express myself more fluently in Norwegian, since I will be returning to Norway next summer and will also need to pass an oral language proficiency exam for my Master’s Degree. Therefore, I am interested in long-term tutoring.

MI would like to introduce my self! I am Joshua Glenn Manning and I am on exchange in Norway now! I have been in Norway for about 11 months and I am going to be coming home soon. I remember my grandparents speaking Norwegian when I was a child ... espcially when they didn't want us to understand what they were saying! They are gone now and the entire family speaks English exclusively. To me, it is a shame to have lost that part of our heritage. I always try to learn something new and I view learning a bit of conversationa l Norwegian as a challenge worthy of undertaking.
