I run a jewelry start-up (Bird & Stone) that funds microloans in Kenya with our profits. I just quit my corporate job to run this full-time so my budget may not allow me to go to classroom lessons in Manhattan.
My goal is to become proficient in Swahili over 2015 and learn: tenses, grammatical structure, and relevant vocabulary (business, agriculture, cities, etc) so I can speak with the locals instead of getting a translator.

My fiance is Sri Lankan and I would like to become fluent in Sinhalese so I can speak his native tongue and have conversations in Sinhala with his family.
I have learned most of the alphabet and can sound out most words (slowly). I am also practicing basic vocabulary I've found online, but I'd consider myself very much a beginner - my knowledge is very limited.
I 'm willing to dedicate up to a couple hours per week to lessons, and I'd like someone who will have conversations with me in Sinhala to help me learn vocabulary and grammar. I'm also hoping this person will avoid speaking English with me as much as possible, to create a sense of 'immersion'.
