I want to learn how to understand and speak Egyptian Arabic. I would like to do this to be able to converse and understand my Egyptian relatives. Even though most of them speak and understand English ( British English). I would really like to communicate with them more in Arabic.
I' m mostly interested in everyday conversations , asking them how they are, telling them what I'm doing, etc.
I'd really love to understand more of the Egyptian soap operas and movies too.
I have tried to learn Arabic before ( Standard Modern Arabic) but found it much to difficult and unrelated to any Arabic I've picked up so far. I definitely don't want to learn 'fusha' since I am not planning to listen to any news channels from any Arabic-speaki ng country.
I do have some very basic understanding of common words, nouns and adjectives. However, since I was never taught any basic grammar, I dont feel comfortable trying to form my own sentences. I have picked up a little grammar such as' bay-tick' , and 'ben-tick' for 'your house' and 'your daughter' but would really like to get a general background of basic grammar so I may, in the future, try to ask or answer questions from my relatives.

I'm a beginning student of Arabic. I'm particularly interested in learning the Egyptian dialect, which I understand to be a bit easier to learn. I'm a little familiar with the Arabic alphabet. I speak several other languages, so I'm able to pick up accents and sounds very well. I wish to dedicate about 2 hours a week learing. I'm looking for a warm, patient, and friendly teacher.
