I am a recent university graduate from a US university, where I took Kiswahili with a Tanzanian professor for 1 1/2 years. We did a lot of literature reading and translation, so I feel pretty comfortable reading and writing basic things but my conversation abilities are very lacking, as we did not do a lot of talking. Grammar also needs help, as I forget a lot of it now that I am no longer in school.
I hope to work in East Africa in a year or two, and thus hope to keep up (and greatly improve) my proficiency in the language.
I am willing to dedicate much time and energy to language lessons, however as I am a recent graduate just starting work and trying to pay off school loans, I would prefer a group class if possible so that it could be more affordable.

I am looking gain some proficency in Swahili. I am a complete beginner, as I have never seen or heard the language before. I want to learn this language to advancy my career in international relations. I hope to spend a couple hours a week in lessons, depending on what seems appropriate. The only qualities that I am really looking for, are patience and tolerance.
