I recently took about 1 1/2 semesters of Japanese at community college but was unable to finish due to conflicts with my new job. I have alot of interest of interest in the Japanese culture and study Rinzai Zen Buddhism as well. I hope to obtain sufficient fluency in Japanese to be able to pass the JLPT tests and find a job using Japanese. I am willing to spend a few(3-5)hours week studying.

I am a beginner--tho ugh I do have some CDs I've been listening to.
I will be working with a university and some public schools in Japan at the end of August.
I would like basic conversation but also need specialized school/educat ion vocabulary (pedagogy, curriculum, strategic planning...et c)
I would be able to dedicate at least one day a week in June and two days a week in July or I can cluster a few days together or do several evenings in one week, if needed.
I am 51 years old so I will need someone patient. But I am motivated to learn and have had success with learning languages in the past.

I am a second year Japanese student. I can comprehead speech and reading at about a 1st grade to a 2nd grade level. I need help with the complicated structuring of sentances. I am a complete beginner. I am, however, an avid fan of Japanese films, so the sound and intonation of spoken Japanese is familiar to me; I've even picked up a few words of vocabulary. I am mostly interested in being able hold a conversation in Japanese, for possible future travel to Japana, but I am also interested in grammar and the structure of langauage. I could be available for one lesson per week. Obviously, I would like a teacher who is thoroughly familiar with the language, though a native speaker is not necessary. Patience and the ability to explain the same thing several different ways until the student 'gets it' is important to me.
