Possible move to Hong Kong. Want to learn Cantonese for Hong Kong and Mandarin for business purposes.
I'm a complete beginner. I'm able to get assistance at home as my boyfriend is from Hong Kong and speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin.
I feel the most important aspect of the language for me to learn would be conversationa l, in order for me to live, communicate and function in Hong Kong.
All my days are free as I work evenings. I am able to dedicate at least 3-4 hours per week.
I am most interested in a teacher that is interactive and patient as I know very little. I feel that it would be beneficial to learn proper tone, focused on conversationa l skills before learning grammar and written Cantonese and Mandarin.

A: These lessons are for my son, Bruce, who is six years old and in first grade.
Q: Your proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.).
A: Bruce's proficiency level is high. As his mother, I have been speaking mandarin with him since he was born, however, his English is better than his mandarin and I want to make sure that his mandarin does not fall behind.
Q; The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc.), if any.
A: All area need improvement and practice, especially conversationa l mandarin.
Q: How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons.
A: Two hours per week or more.
Q: What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher.
A: Since my son is young, I am looking for a teacher who is kind, yet firm. Someone with a good personality is a big plus. My son is very outgoing and not shy. He is a fast learner and very curious. He loves stories and has a big imagination.

Japanese - I consider myself a high beginner or low intermediate. I'm learning Japanese for personal growth and travel also. I need to improve my grammar and listening comprehension . Kore an - I am a beginner, I only started learning in September of 2008. I am learning Korean because I would like to teach english in Korea some day. Since I'm a beginner I need to work on every aspect of speaking and listening. Reading and writing are not a problem.I will dedicate as much time as I can. Hello,
I am interested in meeting with a Tutor over my lunch break, once a week, to try and develop my Mandarin. I am basically a beginner (I only know a very few words).
I am working in the downtown core (Toronto) so it would be ideal if we could meet at one of the food courts or some other downtown spot over the lunch hour. We could also work by phone over the weekend as another option.
