I am a beginner wanting to learn Afrikanns. I was born in South Africa, but do not speak the language. I want to learn Afrikaans for personal and professional reasons. I would like to be able to speak the language fluently. The qualities I am looking for in a teacher is patience and a straight forward way of learning. I would prefer to learn face to face but if that is not possible then I am open to alternatives, and in this case then someone that is able to relay the lesson easily.

My proficiency level is beginner, I would like to learn Czech as i wish to move to the Czech Republic next year. By the end of the year, i would like to be knowledgable in basic grammar, conversation etc. At the moment, i would like a 2 hour block a week and possibly more towards the end of the year. In a teacher, i look for a friendly personality who does an informal type of lesson and adds more in the lessons ie. history of the country etc.

I do not speak farsi; I know a few words and phrases, mainly to do with food! My parents grew up in Iran, and spoke farsi, but they were not Iranian, and it was not the language we spoke at home. I plan to visit family in Iran in the near future, and although we can communicate in other languages, I want to learn at least some farsi. I want learn it properly, including writing as well as grammar, and I realise this is a long term project. I would be willing to come to Melbourne 1 hour/fortnigh t, but can discuss other arrangements. I would like to learn in a small group, with a a well organised teacher, who is student focused.
