I wish to learn Hindi and/or Punjabi because my partner speaks the language, although she is not a teacher therefore finds it hard to explain and teach the language. Often, she knows what to say in Hindi or Punjabi but it is just something she has learnt from her family and schooling.
I am a beginner level, I have some rudimentary understanding of a few small words but nothing major at all. I have a 'hazy' understanding of some verb stems, but always get the tenses mixed up.
Where I need improvement is pretty much everything to get a a stage where I can talk with some level of fluency, and confidently understand what is being said to me in a normal conversation.
In terms of time to dedicated to the langauge, at least 1 lesson a week although I would be willing to cosnider more.
In terms of qualities from my teacher, someone who has a little patience and tolerance as I try to remember all the new things I have to leran and remember. :)
