My 14 year old daughter is spending a month at the Japanese Language Village run by Concordia College for high school credit. She is a beginnger. She wants to continue to learn Japanese during the school year (she is entering 9th grade) and is looking for someone to teach her.
I am looking for a teacher who is kind and eager to teach a girl who loves languages. We would probably want 1-2 hrs per week during the academic year.

I am a beginner. The learning is for general interest and preparation for a return trip to Japan. I lived in Japan (Tachikawa, Chofu) from 1962-65 during the ages of 7-9. I will be returning within the next three years for 3-4 weeks. I want to begin reading and conversation. I have been using CDs to this point. I have begun a recent interest in anime and movies. They have definately helped in developing my ear as well as singing lyrics. I enjoy listening to the Japanese songs (and would not mind understanding , and getting the lyrics correct, to those songs I learned when I was young. They must sound funny.).
I would continue to learn whether or not I make a trip to Japan. I believe I would like to be able to translate within several years. I hope this is a reasonable goal.
I need a reasonably demanding teacher.
