Hello, I am a final-year medical student and am teaching myself Japanese because I will be studying at a Japanese medical school this spring. My grammar level is high-intermed iate or so, and my Kanji knowledge is about 400 (goal is 500+ by end of 2004). My listening and speaking skills are not good, though, as there is nobody with whom to practice conversation. So, I am seeking a teacher (preferably a native Japanese speaker) who can focus on conversation and help me to increase my listening and speaking fluency, especially as I will be interacting with medical patients when I am in Japan. I would like to spend 1-2 hours a week on lessons (in addition to any homework) and will be in Baltimore through mid-March.

I am looking for private instruction of the Japanese language. It is my wish to attend school in Japan in the future, and I wish to become as fluent as possible. I wish to learn to read, write and speak Japanese as a means to improve my work value.
I am practically a beginner. I very briefly took a course at a community college, and decided very quickly that in order to get a good base to start from, I would need private lessons.
Price is negotiable depending on the amount of time per week that my teacher would be willing to spend with me. I would like daily lessons in the morning, as I work late nights. However, this too is negotiable depending on the time frame and the price.
