I'm trying to learn Japanese for mostly career reasons. I travel to Japan once a year and would like to be able to at least get around more freely.
I' ve bought a few guides, audiotapes and iPad apps and such and while I know some of the basics, I would really like to get somewhat conversationa l.
I'm most definitely a beginner and because I haven't been as proactive in terms of keeping up with my learning , vocabulary and such, I'm basically starting out from scratch.
L ooking for an experienced, preferably native speaker and a more conversationa l, practical approach.

Hello,
I will be traveling to Japan to take part in a livestock feed consortium meeting in early September. My job is with an agribusiness firm here in the US, and I specialize in ingredient development for human and animal nutrition. During my meetings in Tokyo, I will be meeting with academics, government representativ es (Department of Agriculture), and private businesses.
I have never studied Japanese nor been to Japan before. I recognize that I am facing a social deficit in Japan as a female business woman, and I would like to learn correct business customs so I do not embarrass myself or my hosts. I would like to dedicate 4-5 hours per week for 6 weeks (July 22 - August 29) to learning Japanese. I would appreciate learning business customs, words appropriate to livestock (animal names), and travel/polite words.
I am looking for a teacher who has experience either in business in Japan, or in teaching American businesspeopl e who will be travelling in Japan.
I would appreciate meeting face-to-face, as I know that I learn better this way. I would also appreciate being given homework. My schedule is that I work 8-5:30 pm Monday-Friday . I work downtown and live in SW Minneapolis.

I want to learn Japanese because I fell in love with the culture and language of the country many years ago. I feel confident I can speak the language, but I don't know where to start. I am doing some self-study, but I feel it is better to have an actual instructor who can guide me in my studies. I am looking for an instructor who is a native of Japan and has many years of experience teaching the language to those who are learning it as a second language. I am looking to spend up to two hours per week with the instructor, or possibly more. As of right now, I am a beginner and need help in order to become more than a casual speaker.

My wife and I have an interest in the language and culture. Also, I would like to learn the language for potential future career advancement.
Zero experience.
As much time as it will take. I travel most weekdays so it will have to be a weekend learning experience. I would like to be able to take materials with me during the week to practice and learn in between lessons.
M y being older and having obligations now, it will be very difficult to spend any long amount of time immersed in the languaged so finding someone who can help immerse me would be ideal.
