I am interested in speaking japanese because i would say i know enough to get by in japan. I would like to learn more to consider myself fluent. I would say my japanese is not to formal and i speak more as if i were a kid, I would like to speak more formal and be able to use it in a work environment. I am pretty familiar with hiragana and katakana and i know some kanji. I dont know how but someday would like to use japanese at a job and possibly live there. I still have my grandma and uncle in japan and i can keep a conversation with them but I sometimes cannot tell them everything i want because i am not fluent. I would like like to be able to meet 2 to 3 times a week and am looking for a teacher that is easy going and can give me good tips on how to store what i study.

I'm leaving for Japan next month for a postdoc (JSPS 外Þ 69;人 9305;別& #30740;究 ;員), and would like to like to learn some conversationa l Japanese. Currently I can read a little but can't speak. I'm willing to spend a fair amount of time learning over the next month. Ideal location would be Porter sq. or Kendall T.

I will be in Osaka, Japan for the summer. My profiency level is probably beginner. I know hiragana and almost no kanji. I am starting graduate school in the Fall (2009) and need to complete a language requirement by then. I am looking for intensive training where I relearn the basics while also working on Japanese to English translations for the sake of research.
I am willing to spend a lot of time on this in July and August. I envision about three hours a day.
