I am a beginner wuishingtio learn conversationa l mandarin. I have many frioedsn who speak mandarin and I am planning to go to China on a business trip in 2009.
I am willing to spend a lot otf time getting more proficient in conversation quickly as I would then be able to practice speaking and listening with my friends and colleagues.

My current level of Chinese is basic. However, I am returning to Detroit after spending 6 weeks in China (Beijing). I am currently a second year law student at Wayne State University. I intend to return to China at some point to work as a lawyer. I enjoy both the Chinese language and the culture. I do have one year of formal Chinese learning at my undergraduate university, but that was two years ago. I want to master all aspects of the Chinese language. I hope to spend a few hours per week with a tutor, but I am flexible and will likely have to cut down in the Fall when school starts. I am open to all sorts of learning styles from individual lessons to a group class.
