-I want to learn Mandarin because I want to live in China for a few years. I went to Sichuan Province (Chengdu mainly) and my only weakness was not knowing how to communicate with a majority of the people who couldn't speak any English.
-I would class my level of Chinese at a beginners standard. I am very passionate and committed so hopefully I will be able to learn the basics quickly.
- Privately, I would dedicate quite a few hours to learning Chinese. On top of this, I am looking at 1-2 hours of private tutoring per week.
-Wha t qualities am I looking for in a teacher?
I would like my teacher to be patient and able to find it really easy to communicate with a English speaking student. If they were born in Sichuan and have lived there for a quite a few years then that would be a great advantage.

Having learned some Mandarin in highschool, it feels wasteful not to take it further, to conversationa l level and possibly beyond. Discovering that I enjoy their comics and tv shows, it's probably a good idea to have a go at learning the basics of the Japanese language as well.

I feel this will benefit both me and the company if I am able to converse in the common language.
