My daughter (Auna 12 years old) and I want to learn Swahili. We desire to learn this langauge for seveal reasons. Many of my friends have gone to Kenya and I have sent bookmarks and cards written in English. Swahili is their native langauge and I would like to send cards and personal letters written in Swahili instead of English.
Als o, we are saving money and planning to go to Kenya in about a year. We both desire to learn the langauge (speaking and writing) before we go. We are beginners who have started to learn from some lessons on You Tube and I have ordered 2 books (one with a CD). I believe that learning to speak the langauge will be extremely helpful as I spent six months in Somalia (1989) and relied heavily on translators. I would much rather make the effort to learn this langauge so I can really meet the people. My daughter and I would both like to learn Swahili together at the same time--if she can possibly stop laughing at every word that I say in Swahili!

Hi,
I am looking to learn swahili having just travelled through Africa for a couple of months.
I will be joining my friend in Kenya later this year to live there and would like to know the language to be able to communicate with the community, help with projects and teaching and speak to his family.
