Greetings,
My proficiency level in Portuguese is non-existant.
My current job is expanding to include more and more business dealings in South America. Even though the vast majority of our clients are proficient in English, I feel we should make an effort to try and understand the people we deal with every day. The company I work for is a high tech manufacturing company and i beleive that if both parties even partly understand each others languages, it would be a great benefit and would make our transactions much smoother.
To give you and idea of the results I am looking for, is the ability to travel to a Trade Show and be able to support and intelligently converse with clients in their native tongue.
In addition to gaining some proficiency in the language, I am also looking for some insight into the business and social cultures of the Portuguese speaking countries. We currently forming a strong relationship with a Brazilian company.
I would be looking for a program that probably had face to face lessons at least once or twice a week. Evenings and weekends only. An affiliation with a that speaks Portuguese would be a benefit after I have gained some knowledge and skill of the language. In other words, and ability to practice what I have learned in real life situations.
