I am an American who is acquiring Portuguese citizenship. My grandmother was born on Pico, and my great-grandfa ther on Madeira. I speak Spanish at a level between B1 and B2, so I am not having any trouble learning European Portuguese. I currently attend a Portuguese language class, but I am not learning enough, and there are not many opportunities to practice speaking.
