I am trying to learn the Japanese language because I'm making plans in teaching there in the near future. I would like to be prepared in the language fluently before meeting my host parent, the teachers I will be working with, and the students I will be teaching.
I am a beginner, but I have spent time in writing the Japanese alphabet and also finding Japanese people in town to converse with. I also try to listen to Japanese tv shows to practice listening to it.
I really want lessons to be simple conversations over a meal or walk around the mall pointing at objects practicing daily life language. At most, I want to spend at least an hour conversing in a relaxed manner. I'm not too concerned about sitting at a table and studying intensively because I believe language needs to be practiced in order to get better.
I' m looking for a teacher who is helpful in times of struggle and also suggests resources that could help me in the future. The teacher should also be supportive and not too strict. I'm not asking for a friend, but I honestly just want to have someone to guide me into basic conversations and someone to practice with.
I only need about 4-5 sessions and I will only be in Hong Kong during May 2011.
