I want to begin to learn Portuguese. I have only a few phrases. I particularly want to learn the correct grammar and everyday vocabulary and conversationa l skills. I was in Mozambique earlier this year and hope to go back again but would like to have mastered some more of the language by then. I may go to live there in the future so am serious about learning Portuguese. I would like to have one lesson a week in the evening maybe for two hours or so.I'm looking for a native speaker of Portuguese who is patient and will be able to teach both spoken and written Portuguese.

I am a musician, and I sing a lot of bossa nova and samba material in brazilian portuguese. I have worked hard to try and translate every set of lyrics as best I can by looking up words and by piecing together the meaning of those words, but I would now like to learn about the grammar of Brazilian portuguese. I hope to eventually have a working knowledge of the language so that I can also carry on some conversations with people when we eventually visit Brazil. But my first most pressing need is to understand the songs I am singing accurately.
I can afford to spend about an hour a day on language study right now. I consider myself a beginner, though I have made stabs at Pimsleur CD learning.
I am looking for a teacher who presents the grammar in an organized way, and who is also open to answering questions I may pose about lyrics I don't understand.
Ideally, I would be interested in learning from a native speaker, and most ideally from someone who knows something about bossa nova and samba traditions. I realize this may be a lot to ask. But I may as well ask!
