I would like to learn the Portugese language as I am working in Brazil in the oil industry. It is important to me to be able to converse with the native Brazilians in their native tongue as a sign of respect for their culture and to enhance the experience of working in Brazil. I have a great deal of respect for the average Brazilian as I have found them to be easy to get along with and appreciate their culture as a new and exciting part of my life. They seem to appreciate any effort to talk to them using Portugese even though to date I may a long way to go to even be able to converse with them on a very small level.
I am very much a beginner and would like to be able to converse with them in a conversationa l way. I am not so concerned about being proper right away, more to get a good basic knowledge to enable me to expand upon learning the language in the day to day operations involving my work there.
I am looking for a teacher that is not so concerned about the grammatically proper level of Portugese language education, more about helping me learn to function day to day in the native Brazilian language.
