I am eager to improve my proficiency in kiswahili to the level of fluency. I work in international development and do a fair bit of travelling to Kenya and Rwanda at this time. My hope is to live in East Africa in the near future. At present ninaweza kuongea kiswahili kidogo (na Kikuyu, Kikamba na Kinyarwanda kidogo SANA!) - you see my tenses are limited to the most basic: present, past, future...
I hope for a teacher who will be able to guide me in my further development (and will assist me to learn the further tenses, prepositions, additional verbs and of course a good repetoire of nouns!).
Depending on the cost, I hoped to have lessons once a week with a teacher who can address my learning style: I learn best by seeing the words written first, followed by written and verbal practice exercises.

My husband and I have just returned from Dar Es Salaam TZ and plan to return periodically. Most of the people we work with are native Kiswahili speakers and we feel it is important for us to learn the language. We are in our sixties but reletively quick studies. We are at the beginning level. We both work so lessons would have to be evening or weekend. Cost would be a factor in how much time we could devote to lessons.

My work college and I both support NGO programs in East Africa and would like to learn kiswahili to better faciliated our work.
I know some luganda and am familiar with its grammer, etc and also have a very basic knowledge of kiswa.
We would be interested in classes on a weekly or twice weekly basis. If you were able to come to our office in downtown DC that would be ideal
