1. Why you are learning your foreign language (e.g., career advancement, etc.). I have a high degree of interet in China, its culture, and its economy. I have many Chinese friends back in the US and I visited there from August to December 2009. During this time I took private Mandarin classes and I have the hope of eventually moving to China to live and work.
2. Your proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.). I would say that I am a begginer as being away from the language has made me rusty. However, I made it through three intrductory books of Mandarin while I was living there. Specifically, I am good at pinyin reading and writing, however, I have to now transition to listening and speaking. I also have begun self teaching Hanzi.
3. The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc.), if any. I want to begin more intesive classes in conversationa l Mandarin. Starting off with remedial word and sentence structure lessons. I want to be conversationa l fluent by the end of 2010.
4. How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons. I want to study for at least 10-hours a week or more. Of this time, I want a minimum of 4-hours with a private instructor. I will do more, if my work schedule permits (I do consulting work) and if I believe my teacher is good for my progress.
5. What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher. I am looking for a teacher who I can become friends with and be introduced to a Chinese netork of friends in the Middle East. I know that I can study pinyin/Mandar in on my own and learn it, however, I need to begin speaking it on a daily baisis. I don't just want a teacher for a few hours a week, I need more Chinese social interactin than that to meet my goal.

Hi,
I'm learning mandarin to communicate better in china. I have a basic grasp and can put a good few sentences together.
I would like to improve the following: 1 . Pronunciation 2. Vocabulary 3 . Grammar
Re alistically I have around 4 hours per week of spare time that could be used for learning.
I'm looking for a tutor that is methodical and keeps the lessons interesting, with a Beijing accent where possible.
