I am a Malayali by birth who never learned Malayalam, much to my regret, so would like to at least be able to converse at a basic level. I know words and can understand bits and pieces, but cannot string sentences together. I would like to take lessons once or twice a week for an hour, but it has to be near my office (Dhobi Ghaut) because of my busy work schedule.

I am married to a Keralan man and his family speak predominantly Malayalam. I have been trying to teach myself but am finding this very difficult as the languages is so different from other languages I have learnt in the past (I am fluent in Spanish and intermediate in French).
I can say a few phrases with my husband but would dearly love to learn enough to hold daily conversations with him and join in when his family are on Skype. I do not work at present so am able to dedicate at least two hours a day to learning and would prefer to do this over Skype or other type of internet connection. I would also like to learn so that I may surprise my husband with how far I have advanced!
I am a complete beginner and am looking for a teacher who is a native speaker with some experience teaching their language. I am a languages teacher myself so know many strategies to teach a language and having some support from a native speaking teacher will help me to put these in place myself.
I want to ensure that I can pronounce the words correctly so that I am understood by my in-laws and also to improve my listening ability so that I can understand conversations .
