I am a beginner.
I'm not sure why I want to learn Ukrainian. I lived in the Czech Republic for a year and made quite a few Ukrainian friends there. I'm interested in learning a language that uses a non-Roman alphabet. I am also toying with the idea of going to like in Ukraine.
I need improvement in everything, though grammar is probably weakest. Ukrainian shares some vocab with Czech, so I already know some very basic words.
I'd like an hour or two a week.
My teacher should have experience teaching language, and he or she should have some solid language learning materials.

I have recently begun to try to teach myself Ukrainian using tapes and books. My mother is a native Ukrainian, but I never learned the laguage as a child. I'm very interested in trying to learn more abouit my heritage through language.
