Hello,
I am a librarian who is looking to learn ASL in order to communicate with Deaf patrons. I've been teaching myself through websites and I find the language very beautiful, but I need someone to practice with to get any better.
My proficiency level is pretty low - at this point I probably have no real grasp of the grammar, I'm just signing nouns and verbs to get my point across, and I'm finding it impossible to follow the conversation of a native/fluent signer.
I don't have a lot of free time right now, but if there is a sign language tutor out there who has a schedule that works with mine, I would like to practice signing with another person for longer than it takes to renew a library card!

I want to learn ASL to get involved in a volunteer work. I am currently taking a beginners ASL class (ASL 101), using the Signing Naturally curriculum. I am looking for a lesson 1-2/week, for about 2-3 hours. I am looking for a teacher who is Deaf, as I feel that is the best way to learn.

I would like to learn sign language for my own interest but also in hopes that it could help me to a find a job as a teacher. I have no background in ASL so I would have to start from the basics. I would like to have lessons once a week with homework assigned to be completed on my own. I am looking for a tutor that will show me how to use resources that are available to me so that I can work on this more independently .

I became interested in learning sign language as a child. I have a relative who is deaf. My mother and sister's hearing is affected by a hereditary condition. I would like to learn sign language to communicate more fully in the world.
I teach English, and I believe it should be taught in school. The story 'Chamelons and Codas' tells about living with parents who sign. It gave me insight into a subject area which would be valuable.

Hello, I am looking for an instructor to teach me the basics of Sign Language. I want to be able to help a stranger who may be lost or in need of assistance. My sister has taken a course at her university but has no time to teach me. I would prefer to have an instructor who can teach me via skype or another form of video chatting. Thank you!
