My proficiency level is beginner to somewhat intermediate. My parents are Serbian and I am born here in North America. I can understand about 95% of Serbian and speak about 50% fluently. I would like to improve the oral component as I have most of my family in Serbia. I believe conversation is my first need for improvement. Afterwards, grammar and the ability to read both latinica and cyrillica would be preferred. I can dedicate about 3-5 hours per week. The qualities I am looking in a teacher is that they identify my level and pace to learn the language in addition to knowing my weaknesses and focusing on those to improve.

I am a beginning student of Serbian who was living in Belgrade for the past 8 months with a native Serbian speaker but with no formal training myself. I have just returned to the United States and am looking for beginning Serbian language lessons focusing on gramatical structure and explanation of sentence formation, etc. I am fairly proficient in reading both latin and cyrillic Serbian script, however my vocabulary is not sufficient for understanding what is written. In conversation, I am able to understand some everyday common phrases when listening to native speakers, however my own conversation skills are very limited and I have had almost no practice (especially since I am no longer hearing it daily). I would like to have some beginning lessons in order to better understand and communicate when I return to Belgrade in about 4 months. I would like to meet a few times a week for around 2 - 2 1/2 hrs. each time if possible and I would like the teacher to focus on everyday conversation skills and basic grammar in particular.
