Description |
Hello, my name is Emily, and I'm interested in learning the Japanese language and culture. My interest in Japanese language and the culture was first sparked by reading manga and watching anime, but I want to take it further and learn how to speak and write it, so maybe one day I can go to Japan and converse properly.
Something a teacher needs to know about me is that I do not know any Japanese at all (besides a small amount of nouns picked up in anime) and I am very young. I am only 13, but I strongly wish for this not to hold me back or discourage any of my teachers. I'm willing to spend a lot of time learning this language, however I cannot learn on weekdays because of my schooling. I know 13 is a rather young age and a lot of teachers may not want to take me, but I want them to know I am dedicated and mature! I would promise to be very focused and do as well as any adult student!
I want to learn this language because it greatly interests me, and I wish to be comfortable speaking it before I go to Japan one day. I want to learn proper grammar, pronunciation , and writing too if possible. I will be very dedicated and hard working.
I live in Ontario, Canada, but my mother works often and my father lives in Toronto so I may have difficulty going to lessons. However, I'm very familiar with the computer and internet so I'd have no problem doing lessons over the internet. I also have a tablet pen, so writing and drawing on the computer is simple, if I were to learn writing on the internet.

I am a beginner. I don't know much Japanese but from time to time I like to study and practice. I want to learn as many languages as I can. Japanese would be my fourth. I am very determined.
The Japanese language and culture is very interesting to me. I want to dedicate as much time as I possibly can to learn Japanese. I am looking for group lessons in which I could learn with others and be provided with much help.

Description |
I would call myself a beginner in Japanese. I can do basic conversations , some more advanced sentences, a moderate amount of sentence particles and verbs. As well as suffixes (mashita, masu, masen, desu, deshita, de wa arimasen, ja arimasen, etc.) I can read and write in Hiragana up until the Ya/Yu/Yo row. I also know some random hiragana's and katakana's. I know a small amount of Kanji. I am learning Japanese for not only personal interest, but because I plan to move there someday. I feel I need to expand my vocabulary and retain it, as well as learning more common phrases as well as advanced conversationa l Japanese. I also need to learn the rest of the Hiragana and Katakana, as well as more Kanji. I'd have to say I'd be looking at about 1-3 hours a week for lessons. However, if it was in the summer, maybe a bit more, during the week as opposed to the weekend. Qualities I'm looking for in a teacher is preferably someone who is natively Japanese, or who's parents are Japanese. My reason being is so that I may gain some cultural knowledge as well. Also, I feel having a Japanese Japanese teacher would help to perfect my pronunciation . Other qualities I would like are: patience, humor, and/or thinking 'outside the box'ness. (Meaning, a teacher who also uses more unconventiona l methods of teaching, and one who also uses straight forward, easy to comprehend teaching.) And definitely a teacher who loves what they do.
