I have just started to learn Cantonese. I can say a few basic things. I would like to be able to understand have be able to converse in Cantonese. I would like to spend a 3 - 5 hours a week learning. This of course depends on availability and hourly rate. I am looking for a qualified teacher that has a fairly structured course which would allow be to speak fairly quickly.

I guess I would be considered as a beginner.
I want to learn Japanese for no apparent reason, I just find it interesting.
I need improvement in all areas. (grammar,conv ersation, etc.)
I'm willing to spend 2 hours on weekends for tutoring and an hour everyday to just read about the grammar rules and basic scentence structures
I'm expecting a lesson that by the time I complete it, I can have a regular conversation in Japanese and that I could be understood. I'm looking for a patient and understanding teacher. A teacher that is willing to teach me as much as I am willing to learn.

i am a beginner in either cantonese of mandarin. i want to learn either language..(or both!) because my significant other is chinese and his family all speak both cantonese and mandarin. Being caucasian i wish to learn to enhance my relationship with his family. And i am sure it won't hurt in business relations either! i would dedicate as much time as it takes for me to learn the language sufficiently and become a fluent speaker. The tutor will have to be patient as i have difficulty with new languages. e.g french in school, did not go well. Flexible schedules are a must as i work in a retail enviroment and my hours change weekly.
