I have taken a year of Spanish at the University level. I enjoyed the experience, but have lost most of my linguistic skills in the language.
I also self-taught myself Japanese while working as a driver for the province. I was using Pimsleur on my iPod.
I have always wanted to be proficient in another language, but have never kept up a language program long enough to become fluent.

I have been studying Japanese for several years and think that I am about Level 4 (although I haven't taken the JLPT).
I want to learn Japanese because I was born there but never learned the language. It's always been my dream. I want to speak enough Japanese to easily get by in Tokyo, which I visit at least once a year. I'd also like to practice what I already know. Basically, I need someone to talk to.
I'd like to learn conversation in particular. Therefore, my listening skills and vocabulary need to be improved. Don't worry about having a challenging class- I am a diligent student!
I can devote 2-3 hours a week to my language lessons with a teacher.
I am looking for a confident teacher who is fluent in Japanese, of course. I want the kind of Japanese that the natives speak. I want someone who is flexible but has an organized lesson plan. In other words, I don't want a lesson where anything goes. I have several Japanese books that we could use if you don't have materials of your own. Having a stable dsl connection to do Skype video chat with is also highly favored, if not necessary, due to my irregular schedule.
