Hi,
I'm looking for a teacher/tutor to help me learn Portuguese. I know very few words in the language and nothing of sentence structure, pronunciation , etc.
My reason for learning the language is that my daughter lives in Brazil (she is only a year and a half old) and I would like to better communicate with her family, and, especially, her, as she gets older.

I am a beginner in Portuguese. (I have taken some Spanish classes which is similar to Portuguese). I am interested in learning Brazilian Portuguese because my husband is Brazilian-Ame rican. When we have children, I would like them to be bi-lingual in Portuguese and English. I will speak English and Andrew will speak Portuguese. I would like to understand what he's saying. Also, I would like to be able to speak to Andrew's grandmother in Brazilian Portuguese. I need improvement in all seven langugage areas of Brazilian Portuguese... speaking, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation , grammar, reading, and writing. I would like a minimum of two hours a week of lessons. I am an English as a Foreign Language teacher, and although I like I structured lesson, I think I may learn more quickly if my lessons are more communicative ...focused especially on speaking and listening. I am a beginner. I have a college minor in Spanish, but have no experience with Portuguese. I will be relocating to Brazil to work for a period of 6 month in July. I am willing to commit whatever time necessary to become proficient before I leave.
