I need to learn Japanese before I graduate from school for the simple reason that I do plan on staying there later on. For now, I need the proficiency for touring purposes and potential scholarships.
As far as proficiency is concerned, I have the basics with regards to pronunciation and some sentences. However, I do not know how to read in Japanese when it's not with the alphabet I know.
Time will be based on my current schedule in school and the breaks that I can get from them. Mostly this will be night sessions due to the nature of the school I am currently in.
For my language teacher, I would simply ask for a complete understanding of the language, not just the spoken but also the written. It is in my interest to not just speak but be able to read. Writing in Japanese is another concern I will deal with later on.

HINDI - advanced beginner
JAP ANESE - advanced beginner
H INDI - I can understand but cannot speak, weak grammar (esp verbs and tenses), weak vocabulary.
JAPANESE - Know about 100 kanji, katakana/hira gana, can say few phrases but can hardly understand anything. Want to prepare for JLPT 4,3 and eventually - JLPT 1,2
I try to study everyday. I would like to have at least 2-3 classes a week.
