Description |
I am currently seeking a patient and educated instructor to teach me how to read, write and speak Japanese.
I do not have any experience with the language and would be starting as a beginner. I have always aspired to be fluent in several languages and Japanese has always captivated my attention.
I do not need to learn this language for specific career advancement or opportunities yet I simply have a great desire to learn generally and being formally educated in a language, even English up to this point, is something I enjoy. I travel as much as possible and intend to not only travel to, but live in Japan and experience the culture as much as I possibly can. Everything I have learned thus far seems incredible to me and to be fluent in the native tongue would remove many obstacles for me when I do have the opportunity to travel there.
I do not know how much time is necessary to devote to learning the language however I would imagine a one on one session once every week or two would be appropiate and that seems like a reasonable amount of time that I can dedicate to learning it outside of my usual schedule.

[Why you are learning your foreign language]
-I am currently doing an apprenticeshi p for cooking here in calgary, if possible, i wish to cook in japan and pick up the finer culture and culinary techniques, when my apprenticeshi p is over i plan on moving to japan.
[Yo ur proficiency level]
-Ba sic conversation. I understand alot of the language, but i have a hard time speaking it. My writing and grammar are pretty bad.
[The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement]
-Grammar, and day to day conversation is a must. I would also like to learn to read and write it. Pronunciation would be great also
[How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons.]
-Whatever suits the teacher really, i do work in food services, which means my shifts are erratic and unpredictable . If the teacher could give me a couple weeks notice on when he/she is available to teach, that would be wonderful. I dont plan on moving there until my apprenticeshi p is over, so i have basically a 4 year period to learn it all, which i expect should be plenty of time
[What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher.]
-Definately hands on teaching, i feel that one on one conversation will help immensely, a flexible teaching schedule would be wonderful also. I have an advanced proficiency in english, and if someone is teaching another language to me, i would expect the same from them. Other than that, someone with a sense of humor would be wonderful, learning something in a textbook-styl e manner is alot harder for me, rather than a hands on interesting lesson. I learn alot better if what im learning is interesting.

Description |
I'd like to learn these languages soley for personal knowledge, I will be traveling and would like to be able to communicate with locals in these countries. I am a beginner in all languages listed, except for Italian I have some basic knowledge. Areas of improvement in Italian would be conversation, and just being able to speak and write fluently. I'd like to dedicate enough time on each language to be able to speak and understand basic words, phrases, and piece together conversations . I'd like a teach who is fluent in the language, and has a certificate or diploma, so I know I'll be learning from an experienced person, and feel I'm leaving with what I aim for by taking these classes.
