I am a total beginner. I am going to China on business at the end of June and would like to be able to have a little understanding of the language and communicate some. I don't need to be fluent. I am looking for an evening class, once or twice a week. I think that in person instruction is more effective than other types of programs but will do homework and work with CDs as a supplement. I tried working with some CDs before I went to China 2 years ago but could not catch on. I have studied French, Italian and Spanish with success, but Chinese is so very different!

I recently spent one year teaching English in China, and I would like to build upon the Chinese that I learned while I was there. I am seeking either a private tutor or a small classroom setting where I can learn and practice with native speakers on a regular basis.
