I am looking for a Mandarin native speaking teacher for an after school program at an elementary school to start as early as January 2005. We are looking for someone who has experience with a thoroughly planned curriculum, which includes the use of stories, songs, etc. to teach the children the Mandarin language. We plan to hold the classes twice a week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, from 2pm to 3pm. There is a possibility in expansion of the program to five days a week depending on interest. Class size will depend on enrollment but is estimated to be between 10 to 15 students.

I am Chinese. I speak fluent Mandarin, Chinese. I speak the language everyday. But I never learned to read or write. I came to America when I was six years old and I grew up in California.
I would like to learn to read and write in the shortest time possible. If possible, I would like to meet for lessons at least 1-2 hours, 2-3 times a week. During the weekdays, evening is best, after 5PM.

This is actually not for me, but for my boyfriend. He wishes to learn Chinese in all aspects. He is a very motivated and driven student. This will be his first attempt at the language so he is a beginner. I am interested in setting up the classes for him as a gift. He would be able to attend class, as well as some on-line work. I would like his teacher to be geographicall y oriented and a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. He would be more interested in conversation. He wants to learn because the culture intrigues him and has been wanted to learn how to communicate in Chinese. Perhaps for future career use.

I am a beginner in Mandarin Chinese, but have learned some phrases at my favorite Chinese restaurant.
My first interest in Chinese was because of a Chinese-Ameri can friend. Since then, I have several Chinese acquaintances with whom I practice.
I also bought the book, Beginning Chinese (conversation only), with tapes, and have finished 4 lessons, with the help of a tutor, who has quit teaching.
I want to learn conversation rather than reading, and would like to visit China in about one year.
I would like one-on-one lessons with a native Chinese person only. That way I can learn at my own pace and hear only native Chinese, which I prefer.
