I just finished my MA in East Asian art and I am getting into the field of contemporary Chinese art dealership.I will be travelling to China periodically and my goal is to be able to communicate with people in general and with artists in particular.
I have some very basic Chinese knowledge, I did a 3 months course at SOAS, London, during my studies.
O ral communication is my main goal (with emphasis on prononciation ), as well as being able to read basic Chinese. Eventually I'd like to be able to write it, as I find Chinese calligraphy and the art of writting it very beautiful, but it is not my main goal for the moment.
I spend most of the time in Miami Beach, although I travel a lot. I will be leaving end May to Europe, then going to China and coming back beginning of July.
I would like to see my teacher personally when I am in Miami, 2 or 3 times a week, (I can go to the teacher's location if it's up to 20 minutes away) and that he/she gives me 1 hour homework a day. When I am abroad I'd like to have classes by phone or have my questions answered by email, and again have the homework that I'll do on my own.
I have a good ear for languages and it is also my hobbie. I am from Spain but I speak English, French and German.
I want someome who is able to explain me logically how Chinese grammar works, but focusing on everyday situations, and that is going to correct my prononciation . Someone intelligent who challenges me.

Hello,
My name is steven. I'm trying to learn Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, German, and (Irish)Gaelic . I'm a beginner in Japanese, and a second year student in German. The others I have had little to no experience with. I'm learning Korean, Mandarin, German, and Gaelic for family reasons. Japanese is just for fun really. I'm willing to put in as much time as I possibly can when I'm not doing homeowrk, or college prep stuff. I'm looking for a teacher who is fairly in-depth and will take the time to explain things.

Hi my name is ShuJen Y. Walker, and I am interested in learning Mandarin Chinese, because it is a part of my heritage. My mother is Taiwanese, which makes me half Taiwanese. I have taken 2 Semesters at San Diego City College about 3 years ago. My family and I recently took a trip to Taiwan for 3 weeks to visit relatives. I had a really great time seeing my cousins for the first time in 15 years, but the only problem was the language barrier. I tried to study what I learned in school before I went, but I realized that I had forgotten most of it. This to me was very disappointing . I am really interested in speaking Mandarin Chinese fluently and I'm looking for a tutor to help me accomplish this. I am looking for a teacher who focuses mostly on speaking the language fluently. I also have a sister who is interested in learning Mandarin Chinese as well. So it'll be two of us ready to learn.

I have no previous experience in Mandarin but would love to learn it as it has been a long time goal of mine. The reasons I want to learn it is my appreciation for the art and history of China as well as it being the most widely spoken language in the world after English.
