My level of proficiency is beginner-inte rmediate. I want to learn portuguese because I am actually half Brazilian and would like to get in touch with my roots. I am also planning a trip to Rio next year and would like to be able to interact with the natives! I am looking for a teacher with a flexible schedule since I am a full time student of communication s at the Univ. of Houston, which involves most of my time (however, I am able to dedicate 3-4 hrs a week to learn more). THERE IS NO BETTER teacher than one who enjoys working with peoole, communicative , patient, fun, and loves their profession!

Hello, my name is Stephanie Gomes. I am interested in improving my Portuguese more specifically the reading and writing aspect of the langue. I was born and raised in Canada however both my parents are Portuguese. Since I was a young child I have always spoken with my grandparents in Portuguese. I am fluent in speaking however I was never taught to read or write in Portuguese. In 2005 to 2006 I was living and working in Portugal, my communication skills greatly improved well I was there, and started to slowly reading and writing but I am nowhere near where I would like to be with my grammatical skills. It is very important for me to learn the proper grammar because it is very difficult for me to communicate with relatives and friends in Portugal by writing and it gets very costly to constantly be phoning everyone. I find it quite frustrating that I can only communication in Portuguese by speaking, and feel it is a necessity to be fluent in all aspects of the language.
