My parents are Gujurati and actually that was my first language. I am born and raised in Texas, USA, and when I started school, my parents pushed me to learn English and somehow I forgot my Gujurati. I am still able to understand most Gujurati easily, but have difficulty speaking myself. Most often I know the words to say, but can't manage to conjugate verbs and nouns appropriately to make a proper sentence.
I am now nearing engagement to my boyfriend, who is also Gujurati, and I want to be able to converse easily with his extended family and grandparents, who live here in the US.
I am currently a medical resident, so my time is limited, and my schedule will have to be flexible somewhat.

I have currently been studying Finnish for around three years now. I have also spent about six months in total in Finland. Having only studied the language for a few years, I think all aspects of my language skills are lacking. Of course, I am able to learn vocabulary on my own but what is particularly difficult is learning the correct grammar and learning the spoken version of things to accompany the formal written version that I have learned. I have studied grammar fairly intensively but it is still quite hard.
