I am travelling to Russia in April and I have never learned even 1 Russian word. In looking at 'Russian phrase books' I'm afraid it isn't intuitive for me. I need to hear it and practice it. I think basic basic words, sounds, and similar things are what I need first. I would like a teacher who's laid back, relaxed and who likes to have a bit of fun teaching because - as an ESL teacher myself - I work best in a relaxed setting. I'm willing to put in an hour or two a week depending on schedules and location of the tutoring.

Hi I am an actor and I am preparing for a film audition for a large role as a Russian (Russian mobster :)) so I would like to study Russian at least for the next month or two. I started using 'Michel Thomas's Learn Russian' to get a head start and I took a basic course fifteen years ago. I would like to do extra work on pronounciatio n, slang and swear words. Perhaps we can do a monologue from Chekov in English with an accent and even in Russian! If I am lucky enough to get the part in the film I would like to work on the dialogue using a believable Russian accent. I would like to work twice a week for the next month (October). I speak some Russian - having studied it for two years in university many years ago. I have been to Russia twice and have Russian friends. I need to improve particularly my auditory comprehension . Conversation is the area of improvement sought. Despite my age, I am serious about this. I will be hosting a Russian at the end of October and would like to have my skills improved by then. I am more than a beginner as I have a good understanding of the structure of the Russian language. I would like tutoring which could be several times a week.
