I am a beginner in Mandarin although I have studied it for 2 years. I have not studied in the last year and a half. I am learning Mandarin because I find the language interesting and enlightning. My name is Phil Burness, and I am a student in Ottawa. I'm very interested in learning Mandarin Chinese and Japanese as I am very interested in the cultures of China and Japan. However, I am a complete beginner in both of these languages so I will be starting with no previous experience. I would like to have regular weekly lessons, if possible, and am completely willing to put a lot of effort into learning these languages. I would like to start out with the spoken language and then move onto the written, but I will be glad to learn whatever the teacher has to offer.

I have been in Taiwan for four years. I picked up chinese from my girlfriend who didnt speak much English. I desided to go to language school and learned how to read pin ying and tones. I am still in Taiwan and planning to come back to Ottawa but want a teacher who can continue my learning.
