I am interested in a linguistics career. I would like to learn Japanese and Mandarin in preparation and so I can easily live in China or Japan. I have beginner-inte rmediate fluency of Japanese (I'd previously taken it for 2 years) and no Mandarin proficiency. I would like to reach perfect fluency in both languages; in speaking, listening, writing, and reading. I have plenty of time in the week to study and do homework. I am interested in 2 hours of 1-on-1 instruction of each per week. I need an instructor who can be very personalized.

I am wanting to start a new career in becoming a flight attendant and most airlines are hiring if you have a foriegn language ability adn Chinese is the best for now. I am definitley a beginner. I need to be able to converse and write and to take the flight attendant Chinese exam to move my career forward. I can spend as much time as needed. ??!Or, hello! I am learning Mandarin Chinese, so I can hope to travel there again and maybe find a career becoming a translator/in terpreter. I am probably at an intermediate level, but low intermediate. I have a decent knowledge of words and characters, but still have a very hard time feeling comfortable speaking it. I definitely need help with my conversation, and being able to speak efficiently with a native speaker. I'll dedicate as much time as I need to, but for the time being I'm available Tuesdays and Thursdays, and can easily travel to Salt Lake City or surrounding areas. I hope to look for a full immersion in the lessons. I really need someone to speak the language to, so I can be able to practice it and get better and better in speaking it with others. The main purpose of all this is to be confident and comfortable with speaking Mandarin.

Hi,
I am Chinese (Cantonese speaking at home) and learned Mandarin for 8 years when I was young and another 2 years when I was in college. I have lost a lot of my skills because of lack of practice. I have a good foundation and am still able to read, write, and speak basic Chinese Mandarin.
I am interested in private lessons to re-build my Mandarin language abilities: reading, writing, speaking. I also want to feel confident in speaking Mandarin and eventually in a work setting.
I am in Philadelphia only during the weekdays. As such, I would like my lessons:
- 1-2 times a week
- 1 hour for each lesson
- Only Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening
I am looking for a teacher that is a Native speaker that has previous experience teaching language and is patient yet pushes me/encourages me.
Also, I would like to understand:
1) How you structure your class
2) Will I be required to purchase study materials / books?
3) Where do you teach?
4) How much do your lessons cost per hour?
