I am a sophomore at a private college in Wisconsn planning to travel abroad in Istanbul next year. Although I took a few private lessons with a Turkish exchange student at the beginning of last semester, I am looking to expand my knowledge and retention of Turkish grammar and vocabulary and gain some competency to help me in my travels and allow me to become more intimately involved with the culture.
I am currently applying for a scholarship with Global Partners to help me cover the costs of Turkish study, whether it be through a private instructor or a college class. Though I am from Michigan, I plan on living and working in Portland with my roommate over the summer and anticipate dedicating a few hours with a private instructor (more with a class) each week to Turkish.
Any information about language programs in the Portland area would be greatly appreciated.

I know no Romanian. However, I have experience with Romance languages. I speak Spanish more or less fluently and can speak Italian conversationa lly. I am probably going to a linguistics summer school in Cluj this summer, and if I do, I figure I might as well stay on for a couple weeks and learn Romanian. Since the purpose of my staying in Romania would be to learn Romanian, I would like to study extensively. I am looking for a teacher with a structured, yet fresh approach. I would like as much as possible for instruction to be in Romanian.
