I have never taken any portuguese, but am extremely motivated to learn. I plan on going on a volunteer trip in a year and a half to Salvador and I hope to have some basic knowledge of the language by them. After the 3 month long volunteer program in Salvador ends, I will hopefully be staying in Brazil for an additional 9 months. I want to take the lessons during this summer (june-july) and I think 3 times a week would be ideal, but i'm flexible. I am happy to do homework for the sessions (in fact, i expect it), and I would prefer if the teacher is a native Portuguese speaker to help with my accent.

I have no previous Czech language skills or lessons. My first language is English and I also speak Spanish. I will be attending a university in the Czech Republic, starting in the fall of 2005. My classes will be conducted in English for the first year, but I would really like to have some previous Czech language skills before I begin my schooling there!
I can dedicate quite a bit of time to my Czech lessons, as they are very important to me. I am looking for a teacher who is patient and easygoing, but who will also hold me accountable. I would really like someone who can educate me about the language, but also about some of the cultural aspects of this beautiful country.

Three years of German in high school. Finished third-year German in college in 1991. My proficiency is intermediate. I want to learn better German mainly because my cousin and her family live in Stuttgart and I visit her often. Also, I may want to use German in the future for possible business opportunities that require German and English.
Ide ally, I'm looking for a tutor that could meet once a week or once every two weeks for an hour to converse in German and help me in my vocabulary, pronunciation s and common terminology that would be used if I were in normal conversation with a German. (ie.) at the market, train station, small talk, talk between acquaintances and friends, talking about my life, asking questions, etc.
I would want the time to be mostly spoken in German. I normally know enough German to ask about particular words or phrases that I don't understand.
I work Monday thru Friday. I would be able to meet at 6pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturdays are open. I would also be willing to schedule a time on any weeknight (except Wednesdays) after 9pm (finishing no later then 11:30pm).

Hello! (Actually, Bonjour! I see you also speak French!!) Well, where do I start? I won't give you my whole life's history until later...but suffice it to say, my husband and I have a marketing company in Portland, a software development company in Bucharest, and are opening our headquarters and sales department in Budapest as we speak. Actually, he is in Budapest as I type getting the office all set up. And, from what he tells me, NO ONE there speaks english. So, we have discussed meeting there in November for me to check it out (he say's it's absolutely Gorgeous) I would like to be able to understand a little bit by then, and then continue on, since that is where our HQ are going to be. He will be living there a month at a time for a while, and we may just move out there to be with him...dependi ng on how much I like it in November and how comfortable I feel bringing our brood of babies over there (Rachel-4, Hanna-2.5, Abby-8mos) Nonetheless, I will need to learn the language, and this seems like a better approach than just online learning from a college. It seems much more personalized. ..
