Chinese (other = Taiwanese) - Beginner, I put Mandarin as my native language, which it technically is because it was the first language I learned, but it's also not, because my Mandarin vocabulary isn't very good and I can barely read and write it. So I'm only semi-fluent. I want to learn to read and write in Chinese and I also want to learn to speak Taiwanese because I enjoy Taiwanese shows and I'd also like to go for my masters at Shi Da (in the far future since I'm only a freshman at college) and it might be helpful if I could speak Taiwanese also even though I know they speak Mandarin in Taiwan. I'd also like to improve my mandarin with my teacher. I'm very dedicated to learning languages because I want to be an interpreter, and though I may not get any jobs interpreting Taiwanese into another language, it might be helpful just in case.
I took some high school French, but I may have forgotten most of it and would like to pick it up again. Like I said before, I really want to become an interpreter and with French being an official UN language, I figure it'd be a very useful language to pick up. Especially now, since Taiwan and France are fairly close business partners. And learning a romance language will allow me to learn others, like Spanish and Italian quicker.
M y love for classical music inspired me to learn Russian, because there are a lot of Russian violinists who are so passionate about their music. I'm a violinist myself and it'd be nice to be able to talk to them if I ever get a chance to meet them. It's also an official UN language, so it should be useful. Currently, the only Russian I know is how to say hello and I can't even write it. I learn languages pretty quickly though.
I enjoy Japanese film and tv and am very interested in learning this language. I'd be a beginner and I do know some Kanji, but I don't know how relative they are to Japanese. The same character might mean something different, so I'm not sure. I figure it should be a fun language to learn.
I also enjoy travelling and I'm pretty sure all of these languages will come in handy.
I expect my teachers to be native speakers of their language. And I would like to spend an a few hours a week with each teacher.

Description |
My name is Nghiem Nguyen and I am Vietnamese-Am erican. I am fluent in both Vietnamese and English. I am planning to attend in an internship program located in japan. Thus, I need to learn the language so I won't be completely lost when I go there. I currently have no experience in the Japanese language. So that means that I will have to start as a beginner and start my way up. Every week I Friday, Saturday, and Sunday free so i plan on using these days to study and learn Japanese. I would like a teacher who is a native speaker of Japanese. I believe that this kind of teacher would be more proficient in teaching the language and grammar.

I lived in Tokyo fo a year and completed a year of private language lessons while I was there, finishing the Japanese for Busy People book one. In the last 18 months I have lost much of what I had learned. I hope to regain my language skills and reach proficiency in Japanese in the coming year. I can spend one to three hours a week in class.

Description |
I am a beginer in Japanese language even though I was in the Japanese Culture Club at my high school. I learned a lot in there and I also practice with a program called Rocket Languages Japanse, which has helped me a lot to learn a few things in Japanese, but I would like to learn Japanese from a person who has actually lived in Japan and who knows more about how things are currently said in Japan. I feel like I need a lot of help in learning how to write all three types of japanese writting (hiragana, katana, and kanji) I also need help on my grammar and conversationa l. I would like to spend as much time as it takes for me to learn Japanese. Thank you.
