I am actually interested in learning the choices of Arabic, Russian, Hindi, or French. My reason to learn Arabic and French is because I stayed in Morocco for awhile and am interested in going back someday and would love to be able to communicate better; I have hardly any experience in Arabic or French. I want to learn Russian because the city I live at there are many people who speak Russian; also I have had classes in Russian and am about intermediate level. Hindi language is just for personal use, I also plan to visit India one day, but also realize they do speak english as well; I have no experience in Hindi. I would like to be involved in intensive lessons so I can learn fast. I am extremly fast at learning languages so look for someone who will challenge me, and also keep me learning all aspects of language grammer and conversationa l language. I would love to use these language abilities for career use.

I have been learning Portuguese through extensive travel in Brazil. I am a fluent Spanish major at a university here in Portland, and am now fairly profficient in speaking and reading Portuguese. My main difficulties lie in basic grammatical errors due to learning only through listening and using a similar, but not entirely correct, Spanish format for what I have not picked up through conversation based learning. I would like to learn to speak more fluently because I speak other languages and have traveled throughout countries where foriegn languages are spoken, but I have never had such an amazing connection with a culture or language as I experienced during my time in Brazil. I would like to spend two to three days a week practicing grammar and speaking with a teacher who is open to speaking with me and helping me with my errors. I would hope that this individual would be as interested in teaching the language as I would be in learning it.

My two young sons and I would like to learn mandarin. My husband is currently taking Berlitz lessons (paid by his employer). Our family hopes to someday live and work in China. My heritage is Chinese/Hawai ian (I was born in Honolulu) and neither of my parents spoke Chinese.
My husband and I would like to spend at least 1 hour per week in lessons, and practicing at least 1/2 hour a day. Our boys are young (6 and 8 yrs.) and we also have very busy lives with school, work, and sports.
We would like our lessons to be fun but useful. We would like a teacher who incorporates fun into language learning, but not at the expense of being overly goofy or irreverent. We would like a teacher who gives good feedback and encouragement , and who can relate well to both young children AND grownups.
