I have been studying Chinese for several years and just returned from living in Chengdu, China. While I am in Cincinnati, I would like to continue to practice my Chinese. There are a few reasons I am learning Mandarin: First of all, very simply it is something I am naturally interested in. The more I learn, the more I enjoy and want to learn it. Secondly, I am in the process of joining the military and the field I plan on entering is linguistics, so I would like to have a jump start going into it. Currently, I would describe my level as a fairly low level beginner. I have lessons on an IPOD of mine, and listen to them whenever I have a chance. I would like to learn and converse with somebody familiar with Mandarin once or twice a week for an hour or so in addition to listening to the lessons. I work Monday through Friday until 3, so the evenings are better for me; the weekends are good for me as well. I am looking for a knowledgable instruction who is friendly and somewhat patient. Thanks

I work globally and interact on a regular basis with my co-workers in Asia. By learning chinese I will be more effective when working with many of my Asian co-workers and suppliers. In addition, I'm attempting to get a relocation to Bejing within the next 3-5 years and knowing Chinese will be a great selling point.
I'm definitely a beginner, and I'm currently only fluent in my native language. I'd like to focus on the basics with conversation being far more important than grammar.
I n regards to availability, I'd was thinking one hour per week for face to face (or video chat) and than another 1-3 hours per week of self study.
